The print room on Kerbau Road
Every wave published by Pulse Vault Wave is bound into a back-issue volume held in the print room at 35 Kerbau Road, #02-03. The room is open to readers during office hours for index consultation, fix-notice lookup, and archival reference. It is not a retail space — nothing is sold here.
The print room holds the physical record behind the digital portal. Index cards, bound volumes, and correction slips sit alongside the desks where proofs are checked. Visiting the room is the surest way to trace how a story entered the record and whether a fix notice was issued.
We maintain the print room because digital archives can be altered silently. Bound volumes with sequential index cards create a physical audit trail that complements our fix-notice policy. Researchers, residents, and other journalists may consult the room under the same access rules.
Definition
What the print room holds
The print room is an editorial archive, not a library open to general borrowing. It contains index cards for every published item, monthly bound volumes organised by desk and wave, and a corrections register linking fix notices to their original entries. Digital mirrors exist on the portal, but the print room is the authoritative physical record.
Index cards are printed at wave close each day and filed before the next morning. Cards show headline, desk, wave time, source count, and any fix-notice flag. Cards are never removed — a retraction adds a slip rather than deleting the card.
Stepped list
Room contents and access
- Index card wall
Each published item has a card showing date, desk, wave, headline, source count, and fix-notice status. Cards are filed daily and cross-referenced in the bound volumes. Visitors may photograph cards for personal reference; cards may not be removed.
- Bound volumes
Monthly volumes compile all waves in chronological order with desk dividers. Volumes from 2026 onward are available on shelf. Earlier material will be added as the archive matures.
- Corrections register
A bound ledger listing every fix notice with date, original entry reference, nature of correction, and sign-off editor. The register is updated within one hour of fix-notice publication.
- Proof archive
Internal proofs with source annotations are retained for twelve months, then shredded per our Privacy policy. Published text remains in bound volumes indefinitely.

Visiting the print room
Walk-ins are welcome during office hours. No appointment is required for index consultation. For extended research sessions — reviewing multiple volumes or the corrections register — email [email protected] so we can prepare the requested material.
The room is on the second floor of 35 Kerbau Road, accessible via the stairwell. There is no lift in the shophouse; if mobility access is needed, contact us in advance and we will arrange ground-floor consultation where possible.
Photography of index cards for personal reference is permitted. Photography of internal proofs or staff without consent is not. The room is a working editorial space — please respect active desk hours when visiting.
Climate in the print room is kept moderate for paper preservation. Please do not bring food or open drinks near bound volumes. A water station is available in the corridor outside the room.
We maintain a visitor register for security and fire evacuation purposes. Registration takes one minute at the corridor desk. Your name and visit purpose are retained for ninety days per our Privacy policy.

Remote index lookup
Cannot visit in person? Email your date and desk query to [email protected]. We respond within one business day with index card details and fix-notice status. See Talk to Us for full contact information.
Researchers requesting bulk index access — for example, a full month of Desk 02 transport filings — should email two business days ahead. We prepare volume extracts on the long table in the print room. Digital scans are not provided; consultation is on-site or via typed index summaries by email.
The corrections register is open to the same access rules as index cards. It is particularly useful for tracing how an error was identified, corrected, and linked back to the original wave entry. Register entries include the sign-off editor’s initials and timestamp.
Monthly bound volumes include a desk divider page summarising item count, fix-notice count, and held-item count for that desk. These summary pages help researchers compare filing volume across beats without reading every card individually.
We bind volumes on the last business day of each month. Binding happens in-room on the long table; visitors who happen to be present may observe the process. Bound spines show year, month, and volume sequence number only — no promotional text.
Lost or damaged index cards are replaced from digital mirrors with a replacement slip noting the reprint date. The original card number is preserved so cross-references in fix notices remain valid.
The print room closes promptly at 19:00 SGT so staff can complete evening wave sign-off. Arrive before 18:30 if you need more than thirty minutes with the index.
The back-issue room keeps the record — digital and bound — honest.
