Questions readers ask us

We publish answers to common questions about Pulse Vault Wave’s editorial method, access policies, and correction process. Send new questions to [email protected] — there is no form on this site.

Answers are updated weekly when new policy questions recur. We do not publish individual correspondence without consent. For urgent correction reports, email directly rather than waiting for a published answer here.

How we answer

Questions are reviewed weekly by the section editor. Answers are published here when they clarify policy for multiple readers. Individual correspondence is not reproduced without consent.

This page uses accordion sections below so you can scan headings quickly. Expand only the questions relevant to you. For matters requiring personal data handling, contact [email protected] directly.

Frequently asked questions

Is Pulse Vault Wave affiliated with any government agency?

No. We are an independent editorial operation registered as Pulse Vault Wave Pte. Ltd. We cite government sources extensively but are not funded by, directed by, or formally partnered with any agency. Our independence is described on the Legal page.

Why do you publish in waves instead of continuously?

Waves create an auditable publication record. A reader returning to the morning file at 08:30 knows exactly what was published at that moment. Continuous updating makes corrections harder to trace. See the Reading Order page for the full schedule.

How do I report an error in a published item?

Email [email protected] with the article date, desk number, and nature of the error. We verify against source documents and publish a fix notice within four hours if the error is confirmed. Silent edits are never made.

Can I visit the print room without an appointment?

Yes, during office hours (Mon–Fri 07:00–19:00 SGT). Walk-ins may consult index cards and bound volumes. For extended research, email ahead so we can prepare materials. See The Print Room for access details.

Do you accept anonymous tips?

We receive tips but do not publish unverified anonymous material. Tips are investigated using the same checking sequence as any other item. If a tip leads to a publishable story, the underlying claims must be confirmed against named primary sources before publication.

Why is there no comment section or contact form?

We prioritise verified editorial content over open forums that require moderation resources we cannot staff to our standard. Contact us by email at [email protected] or visit during office hours. See Talk to Us.

How do you handle personal data in stories?

We minimise personal identifiers, especially for young people. Our full data handling approach is in the Privacy policy. For data protection queries contact [email protected].

What cookies does this site use?

Essential cookies for site function and consent storage; optional functional cookies for embedded maps; optional analytics cookies. Manage preferences via the cookie banner or the Cookies page.

Do you endorse businesses mentioned in hawker trade coverage?

No. Desk 04 covers licensing and tenancy changes as factual municipal reporting. Naming a stall or shop is not an endorsement. We do not accept payment for coverage and do not publish sponsored content.

How are cross-desk stories handled?

Stories touching multiple beats require co-signature from each relevant desk editor and the section editor before publication. This prevents single-desk blind spots — for example, a road closure affecting a school gate requires both Transport and Schools desk approval.

Can I republish your content on my community blog?

Non-commercial quotation with attribution and a link to the original back-issue entry is permitted under our Terms of Use. Full republishing or commercial reuse requires written permission from [email protected].

Do you publish on weekends and public holidays?

Weekends and most public holidays follow a reduced schedule: morning file only unless verified urgency requires an evening filing. Holiday exceptions are announced on the home page index bar the preceding evening. See Reading Order for detail.

Still have a question?

Email [email protected] with “Reader question” in the subject line. We add new accordion entries here when the same question reaches us from multiple readers. Policy answers are reviewed by the section editor before publication.

For data protection matters, use [email protected] rather than the general desk address. For correction reports, cite the article date and desk number so we can locate the back-issue entry quickly.

We do not publish reader names alongside questions unless you explicitly consent. Anonymous policy questions are answered in general terms here; specific cases are handled by email reply only.

Questions about wave timing, desk assignment, and fix-notice policy appear most often — we prioritise those for published answers. Operational questions about office access are answered on Talk to Us and cross-linked here when they recur.

This page is updated on Fridays when new accordion entries are added. Check the index bar on the home page for the latest reader-questions revision date each week.

Ask plainly — we answer on the record.
